Matt Umholtz is President and Chief Strategy Officer of AllianceHCM, where he helps shape the company’s long-term business strategy, product direction, strategic partnerships, corporate development, and growth initiatives.
With more than two decades of experience in payroll and human capital management, Matt brings a rare combination of entrepreneurial experience and operating discipline. In 2012, he founded PaySphere, a payroll and HR technology company recognized multiple times on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies in America. He bootstrapped, scaled, and successfully exited the business before merging with AllianceHCM in 2020.
Today, Matt works across the organization to translate strategy into clear priorities, accelerate execution, and position AllianceHCM for its next phase of growth. His leadership philosophy is centered on building a company that creates exceptional experiences for both customers and employees, with a strong emphasis on service, accountability, high standards, and long-term relationships.
Outside of AllianceHCM, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, Jesse, and their three children – whether at Irish dance competitions, fishing, or out sailing with family and friends.
